Pardon the Nostalgia

I hope you'll pardon my nostalgia trip this week.  It's just 4 days to "Uplift" day when the removalist arrives with two (Yes, 2!) containers to pack all our earthly goods ready for railing up to Queensland.

I think everything is under control, with a list of jobs as long as my arm to be ticked off this week - packing up the computer, printers, Hi Fi equipment, morning tea with neighbours, final mowing, trip to the dump for the last time, etc etc.

We have had three Farewell functions over this weekend.  Our local Birdwatching Club (of which DH was President and I was Secretary for a number of years) put on a dinner for us on Friday night.  It was a beautiful time saying goodbye to very good friends who have taught us so much about bird life and nature.  Then last night we were treated to a fabulous dinner attended by work mates, some of whom we have shared our lives with for almost 20 years.  They are very special people whose involvement with us has gone way beyond the 9 to 5 workaday world, people with whom we have laughed and cried through the highs and lows of life.  Then today our Church put on a luncheon to farewell us. These people are like family to us so it was a rather teary occasion. We will miss them heaps.

So here is a final goodbye to our idyllic situation at Goolwa on the Fleureu Peninsula.

We have lived just three houses from this beautiful River Murray:

Pelicans have been a daily joy:

We have enjoyed the view of the rolling hills:

Been blown away by the amazing birdlife:

and walked along the beach, enraptured by the overflowing beauty of the ocean:

And one of my favourite memories: This pair of swans were doing their courting dance.  They were swimming together, matching each other's every move in wonderful synchronisation.

Suddently they separated and turned around, coming towards each other face to face with feathers fanned out in a perfect display.  It was an enchanting moment and you can see why I chose this as my profile photo!

 We have been greatly blessed!

Regards
Val

Farewell SA and greetings Qld - still think I would rather put up with your cold winters than our HOT summers but then . . each to their own. Hope everything arrives safe & sound - and on time!
Cheers
