We've just returned from our holiday and it was definitely "not the sort of holiday you really want"!!!
To cut a long story short, on Thursday afternoon we had an accident in our campervan, my husband's first accident in 50 years of driving (apart from being nudged behind once at a stop sign and a bit of a ding at a petrol station when he didn't turn wide enough.) It looks as though our campervan will be written off as the external and internal damage was quite bad.
We are SO thankful to God that He sent his angels to look after us and we came out of it without a scratch on us. A nano-second earlier and my husband could have sustained serious injury or worse.
The last few days have been spent trying to get home and to get all the gear in the van home. Because we were out in the country, there were no hire cars available. We caught a bus to travel the 200 kms to the coast to try to hire a car there, but without success. In the end, we were able to borrow the car of a friend another 113 kms away, drive back the 200 odd km and pack up all the gear in the van, drive home 370 kms, unpack the gear, have a sleep, and drive the 340 kms back to return the borrowed car.
So here we are at a train station, waiting to catch the Tilt Train back home! We are so blessed with so many people helping us in our time of trauma. Friends and people we didn't know have gone out of their way to look after us and we are ever so thankful. We're now starting to get over the shock and are looking forward to a relaxing train trip. We will be very happy to arrive HOME!
With thankfulness to our great God
Val

That sounds like a few of our trips;)
Glad you are both ok though, that is what counts.

Oh Val I am so sorry to hear you have been in an accident but so very glad you both are okay. I was in a freak accident several years ago and remember the terror and then relief. Rest while you can and know that there are those who care about you out here in blogland.

Oh Val. That's terrible news. The main thing is neither of you were hurt. You can always replace the camper. Take care. Hugs, Christine
So sorry your vacation was a horror, but so glad no one was hurt seriously.
It is a huge blessing that neither you nor DH were injured in the accident. I'm so sorry for the accident, loss of your campervan, and the hassle it has been to get back home with your belongings, etc. What is most important, though, was spared - you and your husband. Take care and give yourself time to relax - that's a huge trauma you had.
Val so glad to hear you & your husband ore ok. What a terrible time you've had of it. Hugs,
As difficult as Google is making it to comment, I have to find a way.. Thank goodness you are okay!! What a horrible vacation.. I think you will have to write that off as a bad experience and take a REAL vacation.. one where you can truly relax!
You are right, that is not a very good way to spend a vacation. I'm happy to hear you are both OK and you are almost home so you can relax. I think you had some wonderful angels watching over you.
I am glad you are safe and not hurt. It is great that you had some help. I hope it gets sorted out easily for you.
Sorry to hear about the accident, but so thankful you are both safe and sound. Trust the Lord will handle all that needs to be handled for you and I thank Him for providing the necessary angels for you at this time.
Stay safe and God bless.
Sorry to hear of your accident, glad that you are all fine! It sounds like you may need a break at home to get over the shock! It is times like this that we count our blessings.
Michelle.
Oh Val! Glad to hear you are ok but sorry to hear about the van. You'll need a holiday when you make it home!
Thank God you're both safe! Hubby and I had an accident far from home, and understand what it takes to get back home again. Hopefully, you'll be able to regroup and plan another vacation soon.
Oh my goodness Val - I'm so glad you guys are safe! That's a terrible way to spend a holiday. I hope you get home on the train quickly!
Oh! how awful for you and your poor campervan. I am so pleased that the two of you are all right. I bet you were very shaken up. You will be both pleased to get home and put up your feet with a nice cuppa and get your nerves settled. I was very good of your friend to lend you a car so you could get your possesions back. Take care x
How awful - but so glad you are both ok.
I am so sorry for your ordeal, but so thankful you are both ok.
So glad you are both okay! What a disappointing vacation.
How awful to have to cut your vacation short with such a happening. I'm so glad you and your husband suffered no injury. God always provides to those who love Him.
I'm glad you are both safe. I hope no one else was injured in the wreck? Stuff can be replaced, people, not so much.
Take care,
Susan in Texas
Val, I was alittle worried when I hopped over to your blog and found nothing Sunday night. I have just been on it and want to say how sorry I am for you and your hubby. Thank goodness you are both okay. I can only imagine how shaken up you both were.
The Lord works in miserious ways and know that He wrapped his arms around you both.
Try not to think about it too much (the ordeal, that is) and remember that God shines His light in dark places.
Hugs, Sue from Cyprus
Hello Val, so sorry to hear of your scarey experience - the angels were surely looking over you both. I hope you are getting things 'back on track'
best wishes.. Heather [ S.A ]
That is scary! So glad you are fine. We are on a camping trip ourselves and I had thoughts of what would we do if something happened when we were out in the middle of nowhere. We can trust in God no matter where we are and no matter what happens.
God is good and it is lovely to read the tone of your thankfulness and praise in what could have been a horrible story. To have His presence in our trials can really turn them into triumphs...thought it often takes a while to fully see that.
Hugs in Him.
