Free Pincushion Pattern

It's quite a while since I gave you a new free pattern! I was browsing some of my craft photos and happened to see a photo of the

Flit and Flutter Pincushion

I taught this design at a local quilting group some time ago, and I thought it might be something that you would like to make too!

It features an appliqued butterfly hexagon which is inserted under a cut-out scalloped hexagon. It's a little bit of a different technique than usual, going underneath the felt, rather than appliqueing it on top, so something interesting for you to try.

There are a few options you could use, such as embroidered daisies rather than purchased guipure ones, or use a bead for the flower centre instead of a French Knot.

You could have a contrasting butterfly like this:

The pincushion measures 5 inches. It is very quick to make, and you don't need a sewing machine. The free pattern can be downloaded here. I'd love to see a photo of your interpretation of my design.

There's been a lot to ponder of late - the situation in Ukraine, torrential rain and flooding in our State, (we are safe, just very damp), health issues, hubby a bit unsettled - it all casts us on God, and what better place can we take all our worries. I love Phillips' translation of 1 Peter 5:7
"You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are His personal concern."
How amazing that our God is interested in all the small details that make up our life.

What a sweet pin cushion design! As always, your stitches are impeccably beautiful. Such a nice project, and you're generous to give away the pattern. I understand your worries for Ukraine, and am sorry to know that health issues and your husband are concerning too. Your Bible verse is perfect for this situation. He IS the only One who can take on the burden of our own burdens. Bless you.
